Just got me an Nokia N85 - Lovely phone it is. Lots of funky features - very jack of all trades as it seems to do everything, although may not be as good at the specialist features of the specialist phones (like the K850 I had was meant for camera work) but performs everything competently.
Nice colourful oled screen on it too.
I'll write a proper review of it soon, but first impressions very good.

I was considering Karma earlier and wondering how it fits in with newton's laws.
Well, I first came across this:
http://everything2.com/title/Law%2520of%2520Karma
which states that Newton's law that every action has an equal and opposite reaction is what karma actually means.
BUT if we consider the usual use of the word ie. karmic energy (did I just make that up?) then does it work?
You may think that talking about karma is hippy nonsense, but then that's what they always think when misunderstood sciences are developed - they are ridiculed so the "scientists" can ignore it and pretend they know everything.
Think about it logically. If I give you a compliement, it causes a reaction - there's got to be some energy there, maybe not conventional types which is why I just named it karmic energy.

(above is a pic I did once, inserted to break up the text)

Now, Newton's laws of motions Include:
II. The relationship between an object's mass m, its acceleration a, and the applied force F is F = ma.

and

III. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

The thermodynamic laws are important but I may ignore them for now and just reduce them to say that energy cannot be created, only converted.

So, if we consider this karmic energy and the law of karma as commonly said, it's basically if you do something good then something good will come back on you.
Does this fit with newton?
Do we consider there to be one kind of this energy, or can it be directional (ie. good and bad)
if it's the same energy with a different direction then if we give good energy then this will negate bad energy and things will be neutral - this kind of fits with f=ma
But this also means that if we get energy that's bad then we will have more to give out - but can we change the direction? that must take a force. So if we get given a lot of bad energy and then apply a force then we could give it out as good? although if this was the case then if we get given no energy and apply a force then we could give out good.
There must be an equation like e=mc^2 is to f=ma which describes how it works.
Energy is the same as mass multiplied by the speed of light squared.
It's the speed of light as that is how fast we travel through time (it being the 3th dimension)
So I'm thinking that at t=0, x,y and z (the other 3 dimensions) were zero too.
Now I'm confusing too many things at once so will refine this another day.
But if x,y,z,t is zero then does this mean that f=ma/e=mc^2 =0 too.
BUT this does not fit with energy not being created or destroyed.
So there has to be some source of alternate enery and some equation of how that fits.
We need something that's large when mass is small/zero and when e/force is also zero (or have I got this wrong, should that be infinate?)
anyways, I'm guessing this energy souce can't be infinate so
k=a/(b+e)
where a and b are constants (or unknown variables?), e is energy as in e=mc^2 and k is this karmic energy.
What these are and what this means I will leave for another day.
Feel free to point out a glaring mistake, the above is just a thoughtstream.

Just got me one of these Nichimen PVR1622 freeview PVR boxes.
Was only 50quid from maplin, and although it doesn't seem amazing, so far is a bargain.
The UI is slow and not very intuitive but does what it says on the tin; You can record a channel and watch another - and then still timeshift your main channel whilst recording the other.
You can then save the timeshift meaning you can record 2 things at the same time.
My software version is 1.8 and I've heard that there are later versions but they aren't as good.
I'll leave auto-update on and see what happens.

Recordings seem to work like a video in that even though you select a programme from the EPG, all it does is set a timer which can then be set once/daily/weekly.
This means that if the programme ends late you miss the end even if the channel broadcasts that it hasn't finished yet.

So first impressions good and I'll go off and watch it some now and report back in a few days with more info.

Top marks to the BBC for their coverage; an excellent use of different media to an explain such an exciting project.

you guys r mental they r going to kill us all

My problem with such things is that they seem to consider space to be 3 dimensional and consider time to be something else when we all know that there in the void of space, time doesn't exist in the same way as there's no stuff.
Even einsteins e=mc^2 tells us this.. if C is the speed of light in metres per second then it must be true to say that e=m(x/t)^2 where x is some distance and t is time.
That's my theory of everything anyway.

42=((m(x/t)^2)/e

:)

Yeah, I saw that program too- I was worried it was going to blow us all up before but I think it'll be ok now.
That professor Brian Cox set me straight - I think him and Dr Alice Roberts would make a great couple.
